Section Background
The Information Technology Section at Lidcombe TAFE was established in 1994 and specialises in providing training for the support, administration, management and security of Computer Networks.
In 1999, the Information Technology Section joined the Cisco Networking Academy Program and became the first Sydney Metropolitan Regional Academy for the CISCO Networking Academy Program. Since commencement of Academy classes in 2000 and up to the end of 2008 the Lidcombe Cisco Regional Academy has conducted over 450 student classes, 80 instructor classes with a total number of participants in excess of 4,500 students.
As a CISCO Regional Academy, Lidcombe has embedded the Cisco Networking Academy Program into the Certificate III in Network Administration and the Diploma in Networking. This inclusion provides these Courses with an Industry framework. In addition, the Cisco ITE Program, which is preparation for the CompTia A+ Certification is embedded in the Certificate III in Network Administration. This important trend has been continued with the embedding of the Cisco Wireless Certification, CompTia and CIW Security Certifications in the Advanced Diploma in Network Security.
The Courses offered by Lidcombe I.T. include the latest technologies.
In 2009, we will be offering a Diploma in Project Management with an emphasis on Business efficient I.T. Technologies for Information Technology personnel.
As an authorized Pearson Vue Testing Centre we offer testing in excess of 300 different types of Industry Certifications.
In addition to our mainstream training we offer Commercial Courses under the TAFEplus umbrella. This includes the CCNA program, Cisco Wireless Certification Program, I.P. Telephony and Network Security short courses. In the future we will be extending our offerings to include CCNP training.
Our Staff are qualified workplace assessors and fully up to date with the latest innovations and technological developments. | |||||||
